چکیده
On 30 October 2020, a large Mw = 7.0 earthquake occurred north of the island Samos, Greece. Here we present characteristics seismic fault (location, geometry, geodetic moment) as inferred from processing data (InSAR and GNSS). We use InSAR displacement Sentinel-1 interferograms (ascending orbit 29 descending 36) GNSS offsets fourteen (14) stations in Greece Turkey to invert for parameters. Our inversion modelling indicates activation normal offshore Samos with length 40 km, width 15 average slip 1.7 m, moderate dip-angle (37°) dip-direction towards North. The is located immediately of, adjacent top ~ 0.6 km below surface, 1 at its closest island. Near fault, caused permanent uplift up 10 cm exception coastal strip along part northern shore that subsided 2–6 cm. co-seismic horizontal motion station SAMO was 35.6 south 3 west. A post-seismic signal (22–33% on vertical component) observed SAMU, time constant days. effects included liquefaction, rock falls, slides, road cracks deep-seated landslides, all due strong ground associated down-slope mobilization soil cover loose sediments.

A rheological model of post - seismic deformation for the 2001 Kunlun , China earthquake , Mw 7 . 8
The Mw7.8 Kunlun earthquake of 14 November, 2001, in the northern Tibetan Plateau of China, was the largest event in the Chinese continental area in the latest 50 years. In this paper, layered visco-elastic models are calculated using the PSGRN/ PSCMP code, and the results are fi tted to the observed post-seismic deformation. We show that a model of a surface anelastic layer of 10km thickness o...
متن کاملSlip model of the 2008 Mw 7.9 Wenchuan (China) earthquake derived from co-seismic GPS data
Near-field co-seismic GPS data were used to derive the slip distribution of the 12 May 2008 Wenchuan earthquake. Based on field measurements and geological observations, the earthquake is represented by ruptures on the Beichuan fault and a neighboring fault from Pengxian to Guanxian, both dipping with a decreasing angle with depth. Using a layered elastic crust model, we obtained a slip model t...
متن کاملSeismic Fault Rheology and Earthquake Dynamics
As preparation for this Dahlem Workshop on The Dynamics of Fault Zones, specifically on the subtopic “Rheology of Fault Rocks and Their Surroundings,” we addressed critical research issues for understanding the seismic response of fault zones in terms of the constitutive response of fault materials. This requires new concepts and a host of new observations and experiments to document material r...
متن کاملA gravity gradient method for characterizing the post-seismic deformation field for a finite fault
S U M M A R Y Gravity gradients are an effective method for delineating the extent of subsurface density anomalies. The change in subsurface density contrasts due to the seismic deformation gives rise to detectable gravity changes via the dilatational gravity signal or Bouguer anomaly. Solutions for the corresponding gravity gradients of these signals are developed for a vertical strikeslip fau...
متن کاملCo - seismic slip from the 1995 July 30 Mw = 8 . 1 Antofagasta , Chile , earthquake as constrained by InSAR and GPS observations
S U M M A R Y We analyse radar interferometric and GPS observations of the displacement field from the 1995 July 30 Mw = 8.1 Antofagasta, Chile, earthquake and invert for the distribution of slip along the co-seismic fault plane. Using a fixed fault geometry, we compare the use of singular-value decomposition and constrained linear inversion to invert for the slip distribution and find that the...
